The Microsoft-Yahoo Battle Plan

"Vertical search is certainly one gap in Google's defenses, and this is one that the Microsoft-Google combo needs to chip away at. If search = (vertical + horizontal) search, then the strategy that is likely to yield is to focus on driving up the share of search that goes through vertical search engines. And the Microsoft-Yahoo! combo needs to make sure that it owns the cream of these, including Kayak in the travel vertical and Trulia in real estate."
